WOMAN TO WOMAN project was born out of the concern to build bridges between the women of the world.
Returning from my trip to Bombay in May 2017, I felt full of gratitude. I was visiting the Mumbai Smiles projects, finding in first person how with the right help and empowerment, the women of the slums become peaceful warriors to build future opportunities in their communities.
Without any doubt, those women I met touched my heart and taught me a lesson in determination and courage.
It was on my trip back home that my inspiration was born; the synergy between women in the West would create a spiral that would reach women of the slums of Bombay. Beyond belonging to different cultures and different geographic latitudes, these women were my driving force, giving a full meaning to this project.
20 million people are registered, of which 60% live in slums and 50% of women are illiterated, where painfully every minute a girl is raped and where the rate of sale and prostitution of children is very high.
NGO Founded by Jaume Sanllorente. After 14 years working with the slums’s communities in Bombay, more than 9,000 people are benefiting from their education, health and socio-economic development projects, working for a present and a decent future in which fundamental human rights are respected.
